Bagger / Tray Sealer Operator
JOB SUMMARY: The primary role of the Bagger / Tray Sealer Operator is to operate and maintain all packaging and sealing equipment to ensure beet packages are within specifications. Must be able to work with internal personnel and work as part of the operation team, while demonstrating the ability to work independently. Completes all tasks while strictly adhering to all required industry guidelines to include and not limit to; Plant Safety, Food Safety, SQF and all internal/external audits.Report To: Operations Supervisor

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Understand, monitor and adjust the packaging and sealing process to ensure beets packages are within specifications.
Verify and document the equipment settings, process settings, and product specifications prior to start up. - Operate packaging and sealing machines at a rate that equals or exceeds quality and production standards.
- Inspects finish goods periodically while running.
- Complete and save all required performance related documentation.

- Identifies and reports the need for repairs to Maintenance Management.
- Effectively communicates with Operations Supervisor and other departments in a professional manner regarding the production schedule and any equipment issues.

- Teach others in the use of shop equipment or programs needed to perform daily functions.
- Maintains a clean and organized prep-area.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions.
- Basic personal computer skills that include the ability to send/receive e-mail messages, post information to a database or spreadsheet, and perform basic word processing.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Familiarity with Lock-Out Tag-Out Authorized, Hot Work and Confined Space preferred.
- Team oriented individual with the ability to work independently as needed with limited supervision.
- Requires mechanical aptitude.
- Must be decisive and have the ability to effectively make decisions based on a wide variety of clearly defined procedures and standard practices;
- Positive attitude with strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and team-oriented skills are essential
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK CONDITIONS:
- While performing the duties of this position, the Bagger / Tray Sealer Operator is regularly required to, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
- The physical requirements of this position call for the ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed/required.
- Temperature in the work area varies.
- Environment and work areas can be warm, cool, wet and slippery.
